Our History

How we got started

On the 12th April 1979 thirteen women gathered at the home of Marj Newsome to discuss the feasibility of forming a Petroleum Wives Club of Perth. A Steering Committee was formed, consisting of the following original members: Mesdames Newsome, Koop, Tucker, Spooner, McDonald, Crockett, Scott, Greif, Gates, P. Younger, Fraser, Milton and Lewandowski.

This meeting resulted in the interest sheets being mailed to all known oil wives in the area with the incurred expenses underwritten by the women involved and their respective companies. On the 12th July 1979, a Get Acquainted Coffee was held at the home of Mary Koop and the Petroleum Wives Club of Perth became a reality.
